Viking Society Newsletter
December 2020
It is hard to believe that Advent is here! If you reach a moment of feeling overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle that Christmas can bring, use this as your reminder to reflect on the reason for the season.

Archbishop Wood has A LOT to be thankful for as we move into December and we are happy to feature them in this month's newsletter! Check it out below.

Stay in touch with us and be sure to check out our monthly newsletter on the first Thursday of every month! We will keep you in the loop with everything that is going on at Archbishop Wood High School for the 2020 -2021 school year!

God's Blessings,

Day of Giving Grand Total Update!
The Viking Community continued to stop by to make their Day of Giving 2020 gifts so the original total of $20,120.00 grew by over $1,631.00!

Thanks to YOU, Wood raised such an amazing amount of money to be put towards tuition assistance for families who desire a Catholic education, and for our school's programs and campus to receive some much needed upgrades.

THANK YOU!

Original AWHS Lockers are Getting Replaced!
Great things are happening at Archbishop Wood High School every time we get the chance! This week we had a Virtual Learning Day for all students and faculty, so we took the opportunity to begin construction on the lockers.

Thanks to Jim Hirschmann, AWHS Class of 1978, and his generous contribution to our Viking Fund, we are able to update the original school lockers for our students. This upgrade is a perfect example of how we use donor dollars to keep our campus and programs up to date for our current and future Leaders of Tomorrow.

Thank you to Mr. Hirschmann and all of our Viking Heroes who show up for Wood when it matters most. The future of this school is dependent on your support and we could not be more grateful.

Prayer Garden

The Archbishop Wood Prayer Garden is a beautiful sanctuary to pray, meditate, and reflect.

Personalized stone pavers, benches, trees and plants provide a lasting tribute for alumni, family, friends, faculty, members of the community, and corporate donors. Special occasions such as birthdays, graduation, marriages, anniversaries and retirement may also be honored.

All donors will receive an invitation to the annual Alumni Mass and Breakfast which is held in the spring to bless the tributes and memorials.

Gerri Garofalo Scholarship Santas
The Gerri Garofalo Scholarship (hand stitched - one of a kind) Santas are $25 a piece and 100% of proceeds go directly to the scholarship fund benefiting a current 11th grade student going into 12th grade.

Currently the elves (Ms. Gerri Garofalo's sisters) have plenty of current uniform donations for Santas. What they are in need of is uniforms from the girls who attended AWHS is the 70s & 80s - specifically the solid green jumper & plaid jumper. They need as many uniforms as they can get their hands on to continue this wonderful scholarship project!

Have uniforms to donate? Have Santa related questions and/or wish to purchase a Santa?! Please contact Gabrielle Garofalo Snyder via email at [email protected] and put "Wood Santas" in the subject line of your email!
