Do you have experience in any science, engineering, or related field? The AWHS Science Fair Club needs your help! Students are planning on competing in the Bucks County Science Fair being held this year at Delaware Valley University and need mentors to help them find the right project, guide them through the research and experimentation process, or allow them to be part of real-time research at your company that could be applied to a high-school level project.

Interested? Please email Sarah Hale at for more information. Thank you!

AWHS is happy to share the following message with our Viking Community that comes to us following this year's Craft Show from the Garofalo sisters...

"We hope that everyone had fun browsing through the craft show! Thanks to everyone for promoting our Santa Project!

We had such a successful weekend, we sold 45 Santas!!! Then... add our Christmas in July sales to that, we sold... a grand Total of 100 Santas!!! Thank you to everyone who supported our Santa project with uniform donations as well as Santa purchases. We were able to raise $2,500.00 for the Gerri Garofalo Scholarship Fund! We are grateful for everyone's support and will resume sewing after the holidays!"

Personalized stone pavers, benches, trees and plants provide a lasting tribute for alumni, family, friends, faculty, members of the community, and corporate donors. Special occasions such as birthdays, graduation, marriages, anniversaries and retirement may also be honored.

All donors will receive an invitation to the annual Alumni Mass and Breakfast which is held in the spring to bless the tributes and memorials.

HOSA Red Cross Blood Drive

For the first time in a year and a half during the Covid-19 emergency, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) sponsored a blood drive in the North Gym.

All the Archbishop Wood students, givers and workers, were excited to contribute to this vital medical need for our community.

Introduction to Fine Arts class students experimented with watercolors - learning all about their movement, layering effects and their ability to create beautiful works of art as a result!

Mrs. Hartranft's Forensic Science students experimented using flame tests to determine chemical properties in various fiber types.

AP Environmental Students created a way to make survivorship curves. They used “bubble” populations in different scenarios and then made logarithmic graphs of their data to identify factors that influence survivability in real populations.

Two of Mr. Barkley's Engineering students brought in their drones for class! Mr. Barkley did a 4 minute informational video on the mechanisms by which such drones rise and fall, move forward and back, and turn and pivot. Then the entire class went outside to the girl's field hockey field to fly them together.

This was such a fun and educational activity that Mr. Barkley and his class invited some students from Our Lady of Confidence to join in on the fun!

Everything came together swimmingly and all of the students had a great time with this hands-on lesson! We couldn't have been better blessed with the weather: it was clear, calm and sunny - what most pilots would agree is the perfect weather for flying!

Congratulations to stand out student and cross country star Gary Martin '22 on signing his commitment to the University of Virginia.

Congrats to AWHS Girls Basketball, Ryanne Allen '22 and Bri Bowen '22 on signing your commitments. Ryanne will attend Vanderbilt and Bri will attend University of Delaware in the Fall 2022.
