HOSA Red Cross Blood Drive

For the first time in a year and a half during the Covid-19 emergency, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) sponsored a blood drive in the North Gym.

All the Archbishop Wood students, givers and workers, were excited to contribute to this vital medical need for our community.

AP Environmental Students created a way to make survivorship curves. They used “bubble” populations in different scenarios and then made logarithmic graphs of their data to identify factors that influence survivability in real populations.

Two of Mr. Barkley's Engineering students brought in their drones for class! Mr. Barkley did a 4 minute informational video on the mechanisms by which such drones rise and fall, move forward and back, and turn and pivot. Then the entire class went outside to the girl's field hockey field to fly them together.

This was such a fun and educational activity that Mr. Barkley and his class invited some students from Our Lady of Confidence to join in on the fun!

Everything came together swimmingly and all of the students had a great time with this hands-on lesson! We couldn't have been better blessed with the weather: it was clear, calm and sunny - what most pilots would agree is the perfect weather for flying!
