Dear Archbishop Wood Alumni,

Happy New Year! As we begin this exciting new year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible bond that unites us all as part of the Archbishop Wood community. Whether you graduated recently or decades ago, each of you is an important thread in the fabric that makes our school so special.

One of my primary goals this year is to deepen and strengthen the connection between our alumni and the school, ensuring that the bond we share continues to grow and thrive. Your experiences, accomplishments, and insights are invaluable, and we want to create more opportunities for you to reconnect with each other, with current students, and with the school itself.

To help make that happen, I’m excited to invite you to three key upcoming events that will allow us to celebrate our shared history, showcase the strength of the Wood community, and build connections that last a lifetime:

Alumni Basketball Night – Friday, January 17th:

We invite you to join us for a special  Wood Basketball Alumni recognition night. Come cheer on the Girls and Boys basketball teams, hit the court at halftime for some fun competition, and reconnect with old friends and teammates. It will be a fun evening of school spirit and camaraderie! If you played for either the girls or boys basketball team and you plan on attending please RSVP here.

Grandparents and Godparents appreciation Day – Wednesday , January 29th:

We are inviting grandparents and godparents of current Wood students to a special celebration during Catholic Schools Week to celebrate the special role that grandparents play in the lives of our students. If you are a grandparent or godparent or know alumni with grandchildren or godchildren at Archbishop Wood, this will be a wonderful day of intergenerational bonding and school pride. If you are a current Wood grandparent or godparent please RSVP here.

Career Day – Friday, March 28th:

This event offers a unique opportunity for our alumni to share their professional journeys and insights with our students. Whether you’re an expert in your field or just starting out, your experience can help inspire and guide our current students as they consider their own career paths. Your participation will make a lasting impact on the next generation of Vikings.

As we continue to strengthen the connection between Archbishop Wood and our alumni, your participation in these events would mean the world to us and to the students. We can’t wait to welcome you back to campus and celebrate the spirit and legacy of Archbishop Wood!

Please email kristin.conran@archwood.org if you are able to participate. We’d love to see you!

Warm regards,

Kristin Conran

The Nomination Deadline is January 30th, 2025!

Archbishop Wood Alumna, Julia Love ('90) stopped by to spend some time with our Fundamentals of Real Estate students. Julia currently serves as the Senior Vice President at Global Mortgage in Warminster, PA.

Julia discussed many things that would serve our Vikings today and well into their future!

She discussed the importance of building and establishing credit at an early age, what a credit score is and how it is determined for each individual. How your credit score influences the interest rate you will get one day when you buy a home. How to get your free annual credit report and more!

Julia also had some fun sharing the philosophy of "Date the rate, marry the house" - meaning if you find the house that meets your needs, purchase it even if the interest rates are a little higher than you would like, because you can always refinance the mortgage if rates come back down.

We are especially appreciative to Julia for taking the time to visit with our students and engage in helpful conversations that will set them up for success after their time at Archbishop Wood!

A message from the Garofalo sisters, aka the Santa Sewing Sisters!

"THANK YOU to everyone for your continued support of our Uniform Santa projects! Every penny raised goes directly into the scholarship fund, so that we can continue to carry on our sisters legacy at Archbishop Wood.

Gerri Garofalo graduated from Archbishop Wood High School in 1968 as an accomplished student and athlete. She was a dedicated teacher at her alma mater inspiring her students to not only do well academically but to achieve their fullest potential to succeed in life. She is fondly remembered by her family, coworkers, and close friends. The Gerri Garofalo scholarship is a $2,500.00 funded grant awarded each year to two (2) rising senior students.

GREAT NEWS! There are still current and original uniform Santas available for purchase, if you are interested, please contact Gabrielle Garofalo Snyder via email at dngsnyder1@verizon.net and put "Wood Santas" in the subject line of your email! THANK YOU!"

Archbishop Wood High School President Gary Zimmaro has announced the hire of Brian Goettner as the Archbishop Wood Football Head Coach. Coach Goettner has been an integral part of the Wood Football Program over the past few years, most recently serving as the Interim Head Coach since September. Coach Goettner has extensive high school coaching experience, as well as coaching experience spanning the college level to the CYO level.

An educator for the past 15 years, Coach Goettner prides himself on his ability to bring a winning, exciting and disciplined atmosphere to the Wood Football Program. “After a thorough process with a lot of qualified applicants, Coach Goettner’s values and vision for our Wood Football Program set him apart as we navigated through the hiring process,” Athletic Director Susan O’Neill said.

Coach Goettner has a passion for the program and a keen understanding of its current landscape, as well as the high standard of excellence that is associated with the Wood Football Program. We look forward to Coach Goettner’s leadership of our young men, both on and off the field, and we invite all members of the Archbishop Wood Community to join us in supporting our Wood Vikings and our new head coach.

“I am honored and grateful to be named the next head football coach at Archbishop Wood. It’s a blessing to be given the opportunity to lead such a historic program. I'm looking forward to getting started,” said Coach Goettner.

Coach Goettner is a graduate of West Chester University, and he earned a Masters in Education from Eastern University. He resides in Hatboro with his wife and 2 children.

Mrs. Tamburini is happy to report that her Art 1 & 2 students are a colorful bunch with their latest project of "Rainbow Portraits."

Students used a rainbow light to illuminate their faces and these beautiful creations were the result. Don't they just stop you in your tracks?!

Great work Vikings!

The National Honor Society students successfully collected over 100 rolls of wrapping paper to benefit Kindness Between Friends, a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering holiday gifts to over 15,000 individuals in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

We are incredibly proud of our students for their commitment to helping others and ensuring that many people could have a joyful Christmas this year. Their efforts truly embody the spirit of giving. Way to go Vikings!
