HALL OF FAME UPDATES

After numerous conversations and meetings, Archbishop Wood has made the difficult, but necessary, decision to postpone the 2021 Archbishop Wood Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

While we are sure this is as disappointing for you as it is to us, the health and safety of our alumni and their guests is our number one priority.

All of us at Archbishop Wood want to properly celebrate this Induction Ceremony and give our alumni ALL the recognition they have earned and deserve. Therefore, the new date for the ceremony is Friday, April 22, 2022.

Thank you for your patience and understanding of this matter.

Vikings In The Spotlight
EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

The student produced "Viking Voice" Newspaper is back!

The Viking Voice is a publication of Mr. William Devlin's journalism class. The students learn how to conduct interviews, write and edit news copy, take photographs and compose captions. They also participate in designing the pages for the issues.

Over the course of the 2020-2021 school year, the students will produce issues as part of the course requirements.

When the snow storms came rolling in, AWHS was forced to have virtual instruction from home. That didn't stop Ms. Morton's class from having some fun! Each student was instructed to make 10 snowballs. The students then had to measure the diameter of each snowball and how far they could throw it. The measurements were then used to create a diameter vs. distance thrown scatter plot.

In Forensic Science Class, students identified how different heights and different surfaces affect blood splatter patterns. Now they are working to determine how the angle of impact shows the point of origin of the blood splatter.
Environmental students finished their study of soil from their backyard.

The students separated out and identified the three components of the soil (sand, silt, and clay), and then did a soil percolation test to determine the soil's permeability rate.

They then connected this information to erosion rates in agricultural settings, and discussed how erosion can be controlled based on what they learned.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported Archbishop Wood Softball for their clothing drive fundraiser!

301 bags total collected!

Way to go Vikings!!!
