Celebrating the Academy Experience | | | | | All School Book Fair on February 23-27 | Ahoy there! Everyone is invited to set sail in search of Treasured Tales at this year’s Book Fair, a fine adventure that directly supports our libraries. Thanks to the treasure gathered at last year’s Book Fair, over 110 new titles were added to our shelves, including engaging novels, delightful picture books and plenty of high-interest nonfiction that our young readers are already enjoying. This year, we are again partnering with both Literati and Gramercy Books to provide selections for readers of all ages… and yes, even grownups! Click on the following links to volunteer and learn more about a special Preview Night on February 20 just before the fourth grade musical, an after-school shopping opportunity on February 24, a 15%-off coupon for the Viking Corner and an opportunity to have 20% of your purchase at Gramercy Books on February 26 go to support our school libraries! | | | | | Exline Featured at Currier Lecture | For this year’s Currier Lecture Series, John Exline ’64 will be interviewed by fellow alumni faculty member Matt Carter ’00 during a special upper school assembly on Friday, February 27. The lecture series was founded in memory of Phil Currier, former head of Academy’s Upper School, whose zest for life overshadowed his untimely death in 1995. Its mission is to bring to Columbus Academy speakers whose lives and experiences exhibit self-challenge, provoke thought and are agents of positive change. Members of the Currier family almost always attend the event, and a recording of the talk will be shared with our community on social media and in an upcoming newsletter. John will be retiring at the end of this school year, concluding an unprecedented 58-year teaching career at this alma mater. More details will be coming soon about a celebration in the newly named John Exline ’64 Fieldhouse on May 9! | | | | | MLK Honored in Variety of Ways | |
