US Fall Play photo

Our upper school fall play was a SMASH (and a crash, bang and scream)! “Thank you to our wonderful CA community for coming to ‘Peter Pan Goes Wrong’ last weekend,” stated Director of Theatre Arts Whitney Eads. “We loved sharing so much laughter and joy with you.” Click on the following links to view photos and read an excellent student review of the show!

Three of our sports teams still have the chance to join our girls golf program as state champions this fall. Girls soccer repeated as district champs by defeating Grandview 2-0 on Saturday and will play Greeneview in a 7pm regional semifinal Tuesday at Skyhawk Stadium in Fairborn. Field hockey beat Watterson 1-0 Saturday to advance to Thursday's 7pm state semifinal against Shaker Heights at Hamilton Field in Worthington. And as the #3 seed, football hosts 6th-seeded Worthington Christian in a 7pm regional quarterfinal Friday at Hondros Field. Congratulations to all of our fall teams on successful seasons, including our MS boys soccer squad on claiming its first-ever league title!

2026 Commended Students

National Merit Commended Students

Three seniors at Columbus Academy were selected as 2027 National Merit Commended Students based on their exceptional performance on the PSAT/NMSQT taken during their junior year: (from left) Andrew Becknell, Aiden Zhao and Megan Zhang. By scoring among the top 50,000 test-takers nationwide (top 3-4%), they joined 19 of their classmates – announced earlier this fall as Semifinalists – in earning recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Learn more about Megan, Andrew and Aiden by clicking here.

Things to Do

Thank you to all who have donated to the Kids 4 Kids Food Drive so far! Donations of nonperishable food items are still needed (view suggestions), and the last day to drop off food drive donations is Wednesday, November 4. Students can drop off the donations with their homeroom teacher or advisor. And starting today, all donations for the clothing drive can be dropped off to the shopping carts stationed out at the LS and MS/US carpool circles each morning during the duration of the collection period through November 9. You can also get a hands-on Kids 4 Kids experience by attending PACA Connect on November 11!

Celebrating a Legend

A large crowd gathered in the dining hall last month to celebrate John Wuorinen ’80, who retired abruptly after receiving an unfortunate health diagnosis last spring. John spent 8 years as a Columbus Academy student and 42 years as a popular teacher, coach and administrator at our school. “Most of you know this year has brought some difficult news and some pretty major challenges in my life,” John told the audience comprised of alumni, friends and former colleagues. “Just recently my doctor used a word that Liz and I weren’t sure that we’d ever get to hear… remission!” In addition to this highlight compilation, you can watch the entire ceremony by clicking here.
