Volume 12, Issue 1

Mark your calendars for the return of CA Community Day on Saturday, September 15. Festivities kick off in the morning with our third annual Viking Rampage Run through Academy's woods as you and your family get the opportunity to race through obstacles (possibly with muddy and wet conditions) as you explore our 231-acre campus! Then stick around for the remainder of the day as food trucks and the ¡HOLA! fútbol tailgate will help you fuel back up to cheer on the Viking soccer and volleyball programs, as over half-a-dozen home athletic events will take place. Several other family-oriented activities will also be on campus including: Matt the Balloon Guy, a caricaturist, assorted games and prizes, and much more! Details on how to pre-register your family for the Viking Rampage Run will be made available soon.

With the start of the 2018-19 school year just three weeks away, we hope this checklist below will help you navigate the month ahead because we know this can be an anxious time for both students and parents/guardians. Contacts and/or links to resources are included in case further details are helpful.

The Columbus Academy community is invited to participate in the 10th Annual Columbus Academy Golf Outing being held on Monday, September 17, at the Columbus Country Club. This outing will start at 1:00 p.m. followed by a casual gathering at the clubhouse. Golfers will have the option to play a casual four-person scramble or a four-person two-best ball for those who would like a little more competition. We'll see you on the greens!

During their senior year at Columbus Academy, recent graduates Addis Boyd, Karibi Hart and Herman Moultrie decided to create a group for black young men in the school to come together, socialize and create bonds. They named it "The FAM" and established a mentoring program called "Big Brothers-Little Brothers" that is a buddy system between high school and middle school males of African descent.

If you know of family members or friends who might like to receive our semi-monthly Viking Voice newsletters and/or the Academy magazines that are published three times a year, we would be happy to include them in our distribution lists. Please complete and return this form.
Also, if you have social media accounts and do not already follow Columbus Academy on Facebook and Twitter, please do so because information is posted on those channels daily, including emergency information when appropriate. You may also be interested in our YouTube and Instagram feeds.
