NEWS AND EVENTS
SIXTY SECONDS WITH PASTOR SPENCER:
A NEW BEGINNING
Friends in Christ,

We have some news about Dr. Chuck Guth, our minister of Discipleship and Congregational Care. He has accepted a call to be the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen, Washington, a community 90 minutes west of Tacoma, WA, and south of Olympic National Park. His last Sunday with our church is April 3 to help him be at his new call for Holy Week; starting Palm Sunday, April 10.

Chuck has meant a lot to the Village Church during these last fifteen years, particularly his steady and enduring faithfulness to so many. As he put it in a letter to the Session letting them know of his departure, “There have been so many wonderful experiences along the way, and I have so many fond memories of my time here: of people, of teaching sessions and series, times spent visiting members in care centers and hospitals, of various programs and ministries I initiated or participated in and of the many opportunities for my own spiritual and professional growth as well. My thanks go to the whole church for their support through these years. Thank you so much!”

During these next six weeks, I want to encourage you to reach out to Chuck and let him know the way his ministry has impacted you. Please keep the entire Guth family in your prayers as well as the Session during this transition. Also, please be on the lookout for ways to contribute to help us celebrate their ministry before they move to Aberdeen. We will be sending out more information about these final weeks, but for now, it is time to give thanks to Chuck and the way he modeled a life of discipleship to all of us.

Joyfully,

Rev. Dr. Spencer L. Lundgaard

Annual Pancake Breakfast
The Village Church is hosting the 66th annual Pancake Festival on Saturday, March 5, from 8:00 am to noon. Instead of the traditional event inside the church, you can preorder pancake breakfast kits to pick up outside the church on March 5 and take home to make.

Pancake breakfast kits feed four people and include regular or blueberry pancake mix, heat-and-serve sausages, syrup packets and a coffee filter pack. You can also make donations to the Northfield Township Food Pantry, Erika's Lighthouse. Click here to preorder pancake breakfast kits and make a donation. Please tell everyone you know about this important (and delicious!) community outreach event.

For volunteer opportunities, contact Matt Morgan at [email protected] or 224-326-3783.
C24/7 Ministry Needs Bookkeeping Help
The C24/7 ministry, a Village Church Mission Partner, wants to hire someone to help with bookkeeping on a part-time basis. The individual needs to have non-profit accounting experience, preferably knows QuickBooks, and would be available 5-10 hours a week to work on a mostly remote basis. It could be a good position for a retiree and others with flexible schedules.

To learn more, contact Natalie Crockett, Director of Programs at [email protected] or 630-818-7715.

All Church Coffee Hour is Back!
The All Church Coffee Hour returns this Sunday, February 20.

Plan to stay a little while after the 9:30 am service or come a little early before the 11:00 am service for coffee, delicious treats, and some social time with church friends.
Guidelines for Meeting on Campus & Attending Worship
Current Guidance for Masks and Space Usage: In accordance with CDC recommendations and IDPH, masks are required inside the church campus, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated. When outside, unvaccinated people need to wear a mask when in crowded spaces. We will continue to offer online services and singing indoors and outdoors. Normal capacity limits are allowed for the facility.
*People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two weeks after single dose vaccine such as the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

To reserve a room or make a scheduling change, please contact Gay Boundy, Office Manager, or call 847-272-0900 x137. Provide the number of people attending and the name of the group that wants to reserve the room. Updated guidelines are available here.
