COVID-19 Updates: Vaccination Sign-up, Current COVID Mitigations

Cook County COVID-19 Vaccination Registration
Cook County residents and workers can sign up to receive COVID-19 vaccine updates and schedule appointments when you are eligible for the vaccine here: vaccine.cookcountyil.gov or call 1-833-308-1988 (M-F, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Vaccine supply is extremely limited at this point – please be patient and stay tuned for more updates. How does vaccine distribution work in our area?
The Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) is responsible for COVID-19 vaccine distribution and administration in Wilmette. Vaccines are only distributed to certified health departments; Wilmette is among 126 municipalities that fall under CCDPH jurisdiction (four municipalities, including Evanston and Skokie, have their own certified health departments). Current COVID-19 Mitigations
Subsequent to the State of Illinois’ announcement that Region 10 (Suburban Cook County) would move from Tier 1 mitigations to Phase 4 of the COVID-19 Restore Illinois Plan, CCDPH issued Mitigation Order 2021-1 to outline its approach to delaying the full implementation of Phase 4.

Village Board to Continue Study of Recreational Cannabis Dispensaries

Last night, the Village Board held a special meeting to discuss the retail sale of adult-use cannabis in Wilmette. This discussion follows the referendum conducted in November 2020 which found that 56% of voters supported the recreational sale of cannabis in the community. The Village is committed to a methodical and transparent deliberation of this topic and will be holding multiple meetings over the next several months prior to making any final decisions.

The Village Board referred the item to the Land Use Committee, which will meet on Feb. 24. The focus of the meeting will be identifying information the Committee feels is needed to have an informed discussion on potential zoning regulations and locations. Additional meetings will then be scheduled for further discussions. After a full review by the Land Use Committee, a report will be presented to the Village Board.

If you would like to provide feedback to the Village Board on this topic, please email publiccomment@wilmette.com or virtually attend the upcoming Village Board and Land Use meetings.
