Vaccine Updates from the Health Department:
On Tuesday, January 19th, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) announced that adults over the age of 65 will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine beginning January 25, 2021. Currently, frontline health care workers, residents in long-term care facilities (nursing homes and assisted living facilities), and police and fire personnel are eligible. There are approximately 700,000 Wisconsinites who are 65 and older and Wisconsin currently receives around 70,000 first-dose vaccines per week from the federal government. It will take time to vaccinate this population in Wisconsin. We will continue to vaccinate our 1A providers the week of January 25th. If you are a 1A provider who still needs to be vaccinated, please send us a message at

The details of future NSHD COVID-19 vaccine clinics will be announced on a weekly basis based on the availability of vaccine supply. Once we receive confirmation of our vaccine supply from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, we will send notification about who NSHD will be vaccinating during this week. Please do not contact our office to make an appointment or be put on a waiting list. On Friday, January 29 we will send a notice out detailing how to sign up for clinics scheduled the week of February 1. Notice will be sent through the North Shore Vaccine Updates email list and through our website when we know what our vaccine supply for the week will be.

Other Milwaukee County organizations, including health care providers and pharmacies, are planning to vaccinate adults over 65 years of age and other eligible groups based on criteria approved by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. These organizations are preparing for their vaccine clinics, but are also awaiting information from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on vaccine supply and delivery. Information on how to sign up for a vaccination appointment at these places will be available in the coming weeks.

Bay Bridge Update:

Thanks to more than one hundred volunteers, Bay Bridge collected over 2,500 sandwiches for Just One More Ministry food bank. The project was part of a North Shore coalition’s efforts to celebrate, advocate, educate, and serve in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The North Shore coalition also encouraged municipalities to consider a formal statement honoring the legacy of Dr. King. Whitefish Bay became one of nine communities to adopt a resolution in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. 2021. The new coalition garnered the attention of The Morning Blend, WISN Channel 12, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, all of which covered North Shore events. Highlights 1/19/21: COVID-19 Vaccinations at Meijer

The Meijer COVID-19 Vaccination Registration Process: When they have vaccines available, Meijer will text an invite link to you with available clinic dates and times that you are able to sign up for. Register here.

Many COVID-19 vaccines are a two-dose series. To get the full benefit of a two-dose vaccine, it is important that both doses are given at the correct time. After you receive the first shot, you’ll automatically be invited back to a second clinic to get the second dose.

About dose availability: Vaccines will be prioritized based on state and national guidelines as they become available. COVID-19 vaccines are not recommended for anyone under age 16.

Meijer Pharmacy locations will receive the vaccine at different times based on what public health officials decide for the needs of our communities. We recommend you pre-register so we can notify you if we are able to provide you with the vaccine.

For the most recent updates on COVID-19 in the North Shore, visit our website. We also encourage you to frequently monitor the DHS website and CDC website.
