Reminder: In the summer months, the Board holds fewer public meetings. The next Board Work Session will be on Wednesday August 13, and the next regular meeting will be on Monday, August 18. The Tarrytown Link will be issued less frequently as a result, but periodic updates will be posted on an as-needed basis.

Village News and Updates

ICE in Tarrytown

This morning, agents from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement were in Tarrytown on a targeted enforcement action. There have been three ICE enforcement actions in recent months as far as we are aware. As with the two previous events, the Village of Tarrytown Police Department was notified about ICE presence upon their arrival, and was given follow-up notification because a member of the community was detained. The Tarrytown Police Department was otherwise not involved in any enforcement action activities.

To date, to the best of our knowledge, the federal enforcement agents have been targeting individuals who are undocumented who have been accused of committing past crimes.

The Tarrytown Police Department remains committed to maintaining the safety and security of all community members regardless of immigration status. The Village of Tarrytown Police Department does not question individuals about their immigration status, nor do they share information or detain people at ICE’s request without a valid judicial warrant.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please reach out to the Village Administrator’s office: administrator@tarrytownny.gov. In addition, there are resources available for community members impacted by enforcement activities though the local non-profit, Neighbors Link.

REMINDER: Rt 119 Water Main Replace Project to begin August 4

The Village will be replacing 1,200 linear feet of water main pipe along Rt. 119 beginning on August 4th. This project is expected to last 8 weeks and will require intermittent traffic disruption.

Prior to the construction start date, the Village will operate water valves to determine which ones limit the disturbance to the system when interconnecting the water mains. This will require temporary and intermittent shut down of the water main for brief periods of time overnight. When the water is turned back on it, it is possible that residents in the vicinity will experience brown water flow from the taps. If this is the case, simply run your water for approximately 10 minutes until it runs clear.

If you have any questions please contact the Engineering Department at (914) 631-3668.

Public Notice: Water Department Collection of Data

The Department of Public Works is in the process of updating our water valve inventory in the Right-of-Way serving private properties.

To accurately locate these curb valves, DPW employees will need to photograph the frontage of properties using landmarks such as the building footprint in order to triangulate the precise location.

These curb valve boxes are Village-owned and operated and delineate service connections between the Village and private property owners.

Updating our records will assure an accurate location of these valves in order to gain immediate access in case of emergencies, future work and/or repairs to the municipal water system affecting private properties.

This message is to advise you of DPW employees photographing your property. They will be wearing DPW apparel and will be in a Village of Tarrytown vehicle. We will avoid any intrusion and respect the privacy of residents.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience and apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Village of Tarrytown Department of Public Works:
