The Council deferred consideration until the Thursday meeting of proposals from 2 ride share companies which responded to a Request for Proposals, Beefree LLC, d/b/a Freebee, and Circuit Transit, Inc.
The Council considered 10 proposals from grant writing consultants which were submitted in response to a Request for Proposals and agreed with the staff committee’s recommendation to retain the services of our current grant writer, Langton & Associates.
The Council approved a preliminary rate resolution for a new solid waste assessment which would increase the annual assessment from $510 to $550 per year. The Council also approved a consulting agreement with Early Alert Inc. to review the Village’s fire rescue and emergency management operations.
Several proposed ordinances were approved, including restricting activities in public and private marinas and increasing the purchasing authority of the Village Manager.
Four proposals approved by the Charter Review Committee regarding changes in the terms and salaries of Village Council members, the method of filling Council vacancies, and requirements for supermajority votes, were discussed and approved by the Council.
The Charter amendment recommendations will be placed on the November 3rd general election ballot for approval by Islamorada voters.
At Thursday’s Village Council Land Use meeting, requests for administrative relief for properties at 183 E. Ridge Road and 207 Pearl Avenue, and for map amendments for 80839 Old Hwy. were considered.
The Council voted to approve the relief for 207 Pearl Avenue but denied the application for 183 E. Ridge Road. The map amendments for 80839 Old Hwy. were approved.
The Council then considered the rideshare proposals from Beefree LLC d/b/a Freebee and Circuit Transit Inc. After listening to public input, the Council voted to approve continuing working with the current rideshare provider, Freebee.
