VILLAGE UPDATES

Updates from the Village Board

The Village Board held two meetings in June, one was a special meeting and the other was the regularly scheduled Board meeting.

On June 10th, the special meeting, the Village Board considered nine proposals to conduct a study of the fire department. The Board discussed their top preferences and why they chose them. Village staff then gave the Board their recommendation and the floor was opened to let anyone from the public or any of the contractors speak. After this, the Board voted and selected McMahon Consultants as the firm they would like to have conduct the study.

On June 17th, the Village Board considered a number of different items. These included approving, after a public hearing, a Conditional Use Permit for Nunu's Towing, approving a procurement policy for the Village, approving the 2025-2026 licenses, and entering into a Memorandum of Understanding for Storm water Sample Delivery and Processing with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Board also heard the first update on how the 2026 annual operating and utility budgets were proceeding.

The next meeting will be held on July 15th at 6:00pm.

Utility Billing

Utility bills were sent out in the beginning of June and are due next week Monday, June 30th. Payments can be made online, in-person, by mail, or via the Village Hall drop box. Accounts not paid by that time will receive a late penalty that will be applied on the 1st of July.

Please remember that this is the last quarter that the old utility rates will be in use. Starting with the bill in September, water rates will be increasing per the State of Wisconsin Public Service Commission's ruling handed down back in March. Please also note the summer sewer credit will also be in use for the next two utility billing cycles to account for watering of grass and plants.

Farmer's Market Voucher Distribution Today!

The ADRC's Farmer's Market Voucher Distribution event will be held today at Village Hall! See the mailer that was enclosed with your water bill or see the information below to see if you qualify. If you do, make sure to stop in today!

Administrative Office Hours Limited This Week

The Village Administrator and Assistant Administrator will be attending a professional development conference later this week and as such, office hours and service may be limited this week. The office will be open as much as possible with part time workers, but there may be times where the office is not staffed. If that is the case, please deposit all payments into the drop box on the side of the building, and either call and leave of message or send an email to akramer@butlerwi.gov or bhubrich@butlerwi.gov. We will return all correspondence when we are able.

Road Project Update

The utility portion of the 2025 road project is coming to an end. Crews are about half way done changing over the service lines for the new main and are testing the last of the newly placed infrastructure for water safety. They are scheduled to have the utility work done this week or early next week.

After this, the debris will be cleaned up and the resurfacing crews will descend on the project to mill the road up, perform concrete removals, and repave the road. The project overall is currently scheduled to be completed by the end of July.

4th of July is Coming Up!

The 4th of July is less than a month away! That means parades, candy, and fireworks! This year's display was paid for in part by generous donations from local businesses. If you attend the parade, you will be able to see the beautiful banners donated to the event with all the sponsors names on them. There is still time to register to be in the parade if you local business or band hasn't yet! Contact Trustee Brad Meyer at trusteemeyer@butlerwi.gov. We hope that we see you at the celebration!

New Library Director will be Starting!

Starting today, June 23rd, the Butler Public Library will have a new Library Director. Suzanna Schroeder was appointed to the position by the Library Board earlier this month and will be taking over from Beth Stavros who will be taking a full time job outside of library work. Stop by the library to say hi when you get the chance!

Brush Pick-up Reminder

Brush pickup is ongoing! The next date for pickup is July 7th, 2025. On this date the DPW will be going around to homes collecting brush. Remember that every first and third Monday of the month, you may put out your branches to be collected. A few rules to remember:

  • The brush should be stacked neat and orderly at the curb (NOT in the street)
  • Branches should be no greater than 4 inches in diameter
  • Branches only…NO full trees
  • DO NOT place the branches in garbage cans or bags
  • DO NOT put other yard waste in with the brush
  • Oversized piles or piles that are overly difficult to get apart may be refused.

The Village may refuse collection if any of these rules are not followed. Additionally, please do not place brush out at the curb well ahead of the collection date. Please place the brush at the curb no sooner than 6:00pm the day before collection and no later than 7am the day of collection.

Thank you!

Committee Members Needed!

The Village is actively looking for members of the community to be on several committees and boards. The Library Board currently has one vacancy that need to be filled while the Community Events Committee needs three members.

These committees are important as they serve as oversight bodies and planning committees to help ensure the Village continues to thrive.
