July 2024

Summer Events Continue

The Village's summer events are in full swing, and we have a great lineup of family-friendly concerts and activities for everyone to enjoy.

The Summer Concert Series continues on July 11 with 90's Pop Nation, followed by the annual Concert for the Troops on July 18, and Anchors Away on July 25. We are also pleased to announce that the Pride Concert featuring Beyond the Blonde, originally scheduled for June 20, will be rescheduled for Thursday, August 22! More details will be forthcoming as we get closer to the date.

On Thursday, August 1, the Village will host a Movie in the Park event, featuring the 2016 Disney hit, Zootopia. The movie will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. Food will be available for purchase.

The Police Department will be wrapping up the summer season with National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6 at Town Center. See below for more information regarding this annual community event.

For more information about the Village's events, please visit the Village's website, or call (630) 871-6250.

Fight the Bite this Summer

The DuPage County Health Department has confirmed the first mosquito batches to test positive for West Nile virus (WNV) in DuPage County this year. There have been no reported human cases of WNV in DuPage County this year to date; however, the identification of positive mosquito pools is associated with an increased risk of WNV in humans.

Fight the Bite this summer and practice the 4 D's of Defense against mosquitos:

  1. Drain: Drain items that collect standing water around your property. Scrub and refill pet water dishes and birdbaths regularly.
  2. Defend: Use an insect repellant containing DEET when outdoors and reapply according to directions.
  3. Dress: Wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes to cover the skin when outside.
  4. Dusk to Dawn: Wear EPA-registered insect repellant outdoors during these prime times for mosquito activities.

Additional statewide information and data can be found on the Illinois Department of Public Health’s West Nile virus website and the West Nile virus Dashboard

Solicitor Requirements

All solicitors within the Village are required to have a Village permit. As part of the permit application process, solicitors must pass a criminal background check.

A Village permit does not mean that the Village is endorsing a particular company, product, or service residents have the right to request to see a solicitor's permit from the Village.

"No Solicitors" stickers are available for pick-up at Village Hall. If a solicitor ignores a "No Solicitors" sticker, or your requests for them to leave, please call 9-1-1 and report them. If you have any questions, please contact the Village at (630) 871-6250.

Recycling Guide

Are you looking for somewhere to drop off that old television or shred sensitive documents? DuPage County offers a calendar of special recycling and sustainability events for DuPage County residents, making it easy to find a nearby event to drop off unwanted recyclable items. Please note that no hazardous waste, fluorescent bulbs, paint, dehumidifiers, or air conditioners will be accepted at any events.

In addition, DuPage County offers a Recycling Guide for items that are not accepted in curbside recycling bins. You can search by category, such as "Clothing & Textiles" to find a list of various locations where the materials can be dropped off for recycling.

Tree Trimming Notice

Over the next three months, ComEd's contractors will be trimming trees along the power lines along W. Army Trail Road and Gary Avenue. Preventative tree maintenance helps avoid power outages and safety hazards. For more information, please visit ComEd.com/trees, or call 800-EDISON-1 (800-334-7661).
