Village of Flossmoor Fire Department Wins Award!
The Franciscan Health Olympia Fields team awarded the Flossmoor Fire Department first place out of the 17 responding departments in our region for having the fastest medical contact to balloon time when responding to a call related to a heart attack.

The American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association guidelines for the management of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) recommend a door-to-balloon time (DTB) less than 90 minutes for patients who undergo primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This recommendation is based on evidence that shorter DTB times are associated with improved outcomes for patients with STEMI.

Congrats to the members of the Flossmoor Fire Department, and thank you for your continued dedication to excellence. Members of the Franciscan Health Team celebrated with the Flossmoor Fire Department in a photo opportunity and presented the fire department with a certificate.
You'll agree that this is the perfect way to recognize National EMS Week!

Spring/Summer Reminders
Rain and hot weather, which we’ve had plenty of this spring, are the main ingredients for tall, uneven grass growth. It is a violation of the Village code to permit any weeds, grass or plants, other than trees, bushes, flowers or other ornamental plants, to grow to a height exceeding eight inches on unimproved property and five inches on improved property anywhere in the Village. It is also the responsibility of property owners to mow the parkway adjacent to their homes and road.

The Village addresses tall grass and weed complaints by visiting the property or contacting the owner, landlord or property manager. The Village issues a notice to comply within three days. The Village may also mow the property without notice and charge the owner or place a lien on the property if the issue remains unresolved.

Did you know that keeping yards free of tall grass and weeds can prevent mosquitos, rodents and wildlife from invading your property and creating hazards to you, your family and your neighbors? Visit www.flossmoor.org to learn about other Village codes and ordinances to enhance your yard this summer.
Flood Insurance Information from the Department of Public Works
The Department of Public Works wants residents to be aware of the importance of considering flood insurance. Just one inch of water can cause more than $25,000 in damage to your home, and with unpredictable spring flooding, properties inside and outside high-risk areas are at risk. With warmer temperatures finally here, please don't wait until it's too late. Visit Floodsmart.gov or call your insurance agent to learn more.
