Townhomes at Walter/Emily Road Intersection

Over the past seven months, the Village has been working with a developer on plans to construct townhomes on the vacant property at the corner of Walter and Emily Road—located on the west side of Walter Road, across from Dollar General.

On Friday, July 11th, the Village officially sold the property to Looye Builders, who will begin constructing nine townhomes in the coming months. Looye Builders recently completed a similar project in Reedsburg (see attached photo for reference).

Please use caution when traveling through this area, as construction activity is expected to increase during the development process.

For those interested, plans for the project are available for review at Village Hall.

Plan Commission 7/14 Decision

Go Riteway Bus Company has expressed interest in purchasing the Hooverson Funeral Home and the adjacent wooded lot to relocate their operations from US Hwy 14 to 702 Emily Road. To accommodate this change, a request was submitted to rezone the parcels from B-1 General Commercial Business to B-2 Highway Commercial, which would allow for the proposed use with a conditional use permit.

The Village Plan Commission met on July 14 to consider the rezoning request. After hearing public comments regarding concerns about increased traffic, noise, and stormwater runoff in the area, the Commission voted 5 to 1 to deny the rezone.

The reason for denial was that the request was inconsistent with surrounding zoning, which includes B-1 parcels and adjacent residential properties.
