“I do not wish to live ‘neath sound of church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell.”

Cambodia Team - We Gather Together
After a wonderful evening together at the Sky Bar, with a breathtaking view of the Phnom Penh by night, out team had a very early morning! Worship at Rahab's House Church & Community Center in Svay Pak started at 7:30 am.
Rahab's House is located just about 10 miles north of where they are staying in Phnom Penh, but takes about 40 minutes by Tuk-Tuk.
Rahab's House is at the center of Cambodia's child sex-trafficking pandemic. The building itself was a former brothel that sat chained and locked for 5 years following the raid by International Justice Mission, which emptied it of its child sex slaves. Since opening in 2008, free food, medical care, dental care and education have rehabilitated the communities. Kids' Club, Community Church, Medical Center and AIM School all run out of this building.
AIM describes its church and outreach efforts as follows, "On Sunday, Rahab’s House hosts a Christ-centered, Bible-teaching community church. The pastor and staff are all Cambodian nationals and the current adult attendance averages over 300 per week. Through the hope of Christ and His power to transform hearts, the church has directly rescued 16 young girls from sex trafficking in Svay Pak. One relationship led to the rescue of 12 children and 8 adults held as labor slaves in a nearby brick factory. Additionally, several young men have left the sex trafficking industry and one man who owns a large brothel stopped selling underage girls for sex. The church’s presence in the community continues to bring daily transformation to the city of Phnom Penh and the individuals with whom we’re in constant contact."
Although many of our team members have had the pleasure of worshiping at Community Church, they have since moved the church from the third floor of Rahab's House to a ground level space in the back where they can accommodate many more people.

As we continue to hold our team members in our prayers, we pray that they were each deeply blessed through worship today, leaving filled with the Holy Spirit. As they make final preparations this afternoon for their work this
coming week, we pray for a spirit  of unity as the team prepares together and that God helps them to maintain a strong team. And after dinner, fellowship, and a time of reflection on the day's events, we pray that our team members remember to take personal time for prayer and meditation in God's Word where they might find their needed strength, courage, and direction from Him.
Our Team Members: Cindy Amadea, Diane Blalock, Phil Dougherty, Susan Ernst, Meg Fiandaca, Kyle Hearn, John Marks, Karen Marks, Pastor Bill McKinley, Debra Roesler, and Eliza Roesler
