Prioritizing Your Mental Health During the Holidays

Keeping yourself at the top of your list at this time of year is especially important.

The holiday season is a time for celebration, but it can also bring added stress for those managing mental health challenges. Social pressures, routine changes, and heightened emotions can be overwhelming. Here are some simple strategies to help you manage your mental well-being this season:

  • Acknowledge Your Emotions: It’s normal to feel a mix of emotions, especially during the holidays. Allow yourself to experience and accept these feelings without judgment. Recognizing them is key to managing them.
  • Stick to Your Routine: Maintaining regular sleep, meals, and self-care routines can provide stability. Stay on top of medications and appointments to keep your mental health in check.
  • Set Boundaries: It’s okay to say no or take breaks during social events. Protect your energy by being clear about your needs.
  • Use Grounding Techniques: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, try deep breathing, muscle relaxation, or a quick walk to refocus and reduce stress.
  • Stay Connected: Reach out to friends, family, or support groups. Even a brief connection can remind you that you’re not alone.
  • Seek Professional Support: If things become too much, reach out to us at Vine Counseling Center. We’re here to help with check-ins and therapy so you don’t have to face it alone.
  • Limit Alcohol and Substance Use: While tempting, alcohol and substances can worsen mental health symptoms. Opt for healthier coping strategies.
  • Focus on Gratitude: Take time to appreciate the positive aspects of your life, whether through journaling or sharing with loved ones.
  • Be Kind to Yourself: The holidays can be tough—show yourself compassion and celebrate your efforts.

By staying mindful of your emotions, maintaining routines, setting boundaries, and seeking support when needed, you can reduce stress and find peace this season.

Important Insurance Reminder for the New Year

As we approach the end of the year, we want to remind you that most insurance plans reset deductible amounts at the beginning of the new year. If your benefits follow a "calendar year" schedule and include a deductible, your payment responsibility will increase to the full contracted rate starting on 1/1/25 until your deductible is met. Please plan ahead and be aware of this change in your payment responsibilities for the new year.

If you’ll have a new insurance policy starting in January, please send your updated plan information (including a copy of the front and back of your new card) to elizabethvs@vinecounselingcenter.com so we can update your file and verify your new coverage as soon as your plan details are active in the new year.

Please note that we cannot begin new policy verifications until 1/1/25, and insurance updates sometimes experience delays at the start of the year, so re-verifications may take a few weeks to complete. Rest assured, we’ll continue to follow up with your insurance provider until we successfully verify your benefits.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any additional questions or concerns about your coverage.

Wishing you all a joyful, peaceful, and safe holiday season!
