AKA Sorority Volunteers Inspire Members During Women’s History Month

We were delighted to once again welcome volunteers from the AKA Sorority, who generously shared their time and talents with our members. Some joined us in the Art Room to sketch portraits of influential women as part of our Women’s History Month activities. Others brought energy to the gym, playing basketball and leading obstacle courses.

The day concluded with a celebration of Women’s History Month and a heartfelt acknowledgment of the strong women and young ladies in our lives—both those we look up to and those right here within our Club.

Adult Volleyball Nights Are a Hit at the Club

Our adult volleyball program continues to thrive. Every Thursday night, the gym is full of energy as adults ages 18+ come together to play. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged! For questions, please contact our Athletic Director, Mike Daniel.

Spring Adventures Begin at Slough Farm

Warm weather arrived just in time for our members to begin their offsite visits to Slough Farm. As part of a seven-week rotational program, members spend time exploring ceramics, culinary arts, and farm life. They learn about the animals, develop cooking skills, and participate in therapeutic sessions in the ceramics studio.

We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with Slough Farm—its patient, caring staff

truly make a difference.

(L to R): Senator Julian Cyr,

Dr. Barbara-jean Chauvin, MVBGC CEO, Representative Thomas Moakley

Stronger Together:

Advocacy Day on Beacon Hill

March 12 was Massachusetts Boys & Girls Clubs Advocacy Day at the Statehouse! It was an inspiring day of connection and conversation for Club leaders from across the Commonwealth to champion the vital programs that support our youth.

Barbara-jean was thrilled to meet with our local legislators to discuss the impact of our work and the importance of continued investment in the next generation.

A huge thank you to Senator Cyr and Representative Moakley for their time, their partnership, and their unwavering commitment to the children and families of Martha’s Vineyard.

Montessori School

is Back in the Gym

As good Island neighbors, we enjoy sharing our gym with Vineyard Montessori for their physical education class. We at the Club are thrilled to be able to provide them with a safe, indoor environment on weekdays before our members arrive. Games are played, and the group gets its exercise in, even during these chilly months.

Our New Clubhouse Has Taken Shape

It’s happening right

before our very eyes!

The walls have been constructed, and the new Clubhouse is really a sight to see. If you're a fan of heavy earth-moving equipment or a fan of our legacy, you will certainly be impressed.

We are just tickled each day and talk about all the possibilities, including an upcoming BUY A BRICK CAMPAIGN.

Stay tuned!

Middle School Night

We were excited to fire up the grill for this month’s Middle School Night! Members spent the evening hanging out in the gym, playing games in the Game Room, or relaxing in the backyard while enjoying hot dogs and burgers with friends.

Middle School Night is our way of welcoming all Island youth, and we can’t wait to see everyone again in April!

AFTERSCHOOL

MEMBER SPOTLIGHTS

Cal is recognized by our afterschool staff for his helpfulness, kindness, and bubbly energy. He always has a smile on his face and consistently shows respect to both staff and peers. He is a wonderful role model and a joy to have in our program.

Maria is often one of the first to offer a helping hand—whether assisting staff during activity transitions or supporting younger members with homework and reading. She is caring, dependable, and an invaluable part of our Club community.

Isaac loves spending time in the Learning Center. He begins each afternoon in Power Hour, completing his homework, then dives into the many activities and STEAM projects offered. Isaac is thoughtful, caring, and wonderfully silly—qualities that make him a joy to have at the Club.
