Feed. Clothe. House. Heal. Serve.

“I will always welcome joyfully any opportunity that comes my way to be of service to you."
-St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho's 2025 Annual Report is Here!

This past year, St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho continued walking alongside neighbors across our community with shelter, housing, meals, and hope. Thanks to the support of donors, shoppers, volunteers, grant partners, and our dedicated staff, more than 20,000 neighbors received support through our programs in 2025.

Over the course of the year, we provided 10,620 nights of shelter, served 12,385 meals at Father Bill’s Kitchen, helped prevent 292 families from losing housing, and supported hundreds of individuals on their path toward stability.

Every number represents a person. A family who stayed housed. A neighbor who found a warm meal. Someone who finally had a safe place to sleep.

Thank you for being part of this work and for helping hope open doors across North Idaho.

An 80 Year Mission Built by Faith and Community

For eight decades, the people of North Idaho have shaped a mission that welcomes, feeds, houses and supports neighbors in times of need. St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho began in 1946, when parishioners at St. Thomas Parish opened a small clothing closet that anyone in hardship could access with dignity and compassion. From that humble beginning grew one of the region’s strongest community safety nets.

Milestones thanks to local investment of hands and hearts:

  • 1946 Clothing closet opens at St. Thomas Catholic Church establishing the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
  • 1960 Society opened a store at 814 N. 4th & warehouse at 108 E. Walnut
  • 1961 Store Walnut & Govt Way becomes sole location. It is managed by Marvin Lenz & Walt Stillinger
  • 1988 Services expanded by opening a social service office to give away vouchers for store merchandise, medical help and other emergencies encountered.
  • 1990 Men’s shelter purchased
  • 1992 Women’s shelter purchased
  • 1994 Transitional housing program launched
  • 2003 Father Bill’s Kitchen begins serving meals
  • 2008 ICARE Parenting Program acquired

For 80 years, this mission has grown through faith communities, volunteers, donors, civic partners, and compassionate neighbors who believe that every person deserves dignity, stability, and hope.
