FOCUS ON OUR CUSTOMERS

Owner: Terje & Gunnar Lervaag

Where do you live?

Aalesdund, Norway

Vehicle: 1946 1/2 Ton Pickup

How long have you owned this vehicle?  December 2018

Where did you get this vehicle? Ebay, Came from Winnipeg, Canada

What is the story behind the vehicle? We were told it came from North Dakota

What condition was it in when you got it? It was not running and has been sitting for 40 years.

What kind of work have you done to this vehicle? I replaced all electrical and converted to 12 volt. Replaced the engine with a 235 CID from 1957. New interior and brakes. Outside patina with owatrol.

What was the hardest part to find? The step on the right side was smashed, so to find a nice used one was not easy.

What other vehicles do you own? 1974 Camaro, 2004 Silverado Stepside and a Harley Davidson

Do you have any other projects that you are currently working on or plan to start soon? No.

Do you have any advice for people thinking about starting a restoration?

Some mechanical and electrical skills will help with costs.

Are there any interesting stories that you can share with us about your experiences with this vehicle? When starting restoration we discovered bullet holes from a gun, right behind the driver. So we joke that it started it's journey being stolen from the dealer.

When bleeding the brakes (drums all around) you have to adjust brake shoes maximum to drums or you don't get pressure at the master cylinder. It seems that lots of people with these trucks struggle with that issue and we did also.

Chevrolet Trivia Answer

Introduced in 1969, the K5 Blazer was the smallest full size SUV version of the General Motors C/K truck family. The K5 Blazer and GMC Jimmy had "full convertible" removable tops until 1975. In 1976, GM introduced a half-cab design that was less prone to leaks and slightly safer in a roll-over. These half cabs are convertible starting at a few inches behind the driver/passenger doors all the way back to the tailgate. In 1992, the Blazer was redesigned completely and no longer had a removable top.
