A Message from the Executive Director

Dear Friends,

First, the good news. I would like to thank everyone who made our 2nd annual barbecue a success. Many volunteers contributed to the success of the event. A special thank you to the Women’s Ministry of Faith Fellowship Church for the silent auction and the music. The silent auction raised over $3,000 and the event raised $46,763. We enjoyed meeting new friends and sharing a night of fellowship with our supporters. Thank you to all who came out. It was a beautiful evening.

Now for the bad news. You may have already heard about the brutal attack on Friday, May 26, outside of our center. One of our clients was exiting our building as the attack happened and we rushed out when we heard her screaming. We found two of the gentlemen, who regularly pray in front of Planned Parenthood, on the ground bleeding. We called 911, brought them inside, and our nurse and sonographer attended to them in our waiting room until help arrived. (You can read more about the incident here.)

It is an active investigation and we are cooperating with law enforcement. We are also praying for the men who were assaulted and hope that the perpetrator is brought to justice.

In addition to this violence on Friday morning in front of our center, later that afternoon five people were shot, just blocks away, at Lexington Market.

Some may look at the City of Baltimore and see nothing but abundant danger and darkness. And, to be sure, that’s part of the reality our staff faces every day. But the opportunity to serve the vulnerable and cultivate a culture of LIFE is also abundant. We need your prayers more than ever. The victims and perpetrators of violence need our prayers. Please continue to pray and support our small beacon of light in this troubled city.
