ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - The Alleghany Highlands Healthcare Advancement Grant has opened doors for Alleghany Highlands Public Schools students over the last two years. "This got started two years ago, and began with this grant that we were awarded by the state to just expand our health care programs, encourage students to graduate with industry credentials in health care," said Ginni Phillips, the Alleghany Highlands Healthcare Advancement Coordinator.

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Last year, Kate Fletcher made national headlines running all the way to Washington D.C. to raise money for her students as part of her annual Lion Pride Run. This year, the Louisa County Public School teacher is back to running, but she's staying local to make an impact.

VIRGINIA - Governor Glenn Youngkin wants parents to feel safe when children are in schools. The governor signed a bill that requires districts to send digital blueprints to first responders in case there is an emergency. Since the law has passed, 1,000 schools and 85 divisions are in the digital mapping program.

INDEPENDENCE - Grayson County teachers took center stage during a reception and recognition held March 6 to honor teachers of the year at each school and one overall winner. Division Superintendent Kelly Wilmore had words of praise for the teachers.
