Hampton Roads students get ready to compete in international STEM competition

A group of teenage boys saw problems in their community - and wanted to be a part of the solution. Local nonprofit Unreasonable Kids College has been working with the teens in the TRUTH STEM Entrepreneurship Club to think outside the box and "smash assumptions" about young Black men.

Compensation study confirms FCPS teachers underpaid

ROCKY MOUNT - Franklin County Public Schools' long-awaited pay study confirms that the division's teachers are underpaid. In October 2021, the division hired Evergreen Solutions to begin a compensation study. Kristen Gilley, Evergreen Solutions senior consultant, presented the study's preliminary findings at the Nov. 14 county School Board meeting.

2023 VSBA Capital Conference, January 30-31, 2023

This year’s two-day Capital Conference will kick off with a budget and economic outlook for 2023 with the latest update on the Commonwealth’s financial picture. After the budget presentation there will be a conversation between Former Virginia House of Delegate Chris Saxman and Dr. Bob Holsworth with their perspectives on the landscape of Virginia politics in 2023 and beyond. Following this session, attendees will hear from VSBA’s own, J.T. Kessler and Stacy Haney on the happenings at the Capitol for the 2023 Virginia General Assembly.
