What is uncommon is for a trio of siblings to not miss a single day of school from kindergarten through high school graduation. But in a herculean effort, Logan McBride, Tylor McBride and Ariel Helmick did just that.

SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) - Roanoke College has been approved for a $192,541 lab school planning grant from the Department of Education, according to the college. The grant will allow the college to partner with Virginia Western Community College to design a dual-enrollment program for at-risk high school students.

After years of debate, the Alexandria City school board approved an agreement with the city's police department to staff the school system's middle and high schools with police officers. The two-year agreement, which takes effect July 1, comes after ongoing discussion with city leaders and community members, along with feedback from an advisory group formed to reimagine the partnership.

NEWPORT NEWS - Soccer, wrestling, football and cheer will be offered at all Newport News middle schools starting next school year. The school division is spending about $1.3 million to expand its middle school sports program, which already had offered basketball, volleyball and track.
