Buford Middle School contracts Nielsen Builders for renovations

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Plans to renovate Charlottesville’s Buford Middle School are taking a big step forward.

Nielsen Builders was awarded the contract for the work. It had the lowest bid at $71.4 million.Nielsen has previously done work in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. It was the contractor for both the Paramount Theater and the Crozet Elementary renovations.

Manassas School Board calls for more funding

The Manassas School Board is calling for more funding from the City Council to keep pace with pay raises in Prince William County and other nearby counties, saying the status quo of 2-3% annual revenue increases from the city’s general fund won’t cut it much longer.

Pulaski County Education Association (PCEA) dominated public comments during Monday’s meeting of Pulaski County Board of Supervisors. They came to the board in support of raises for Pulaski County teachers.

Bedford School board discuss elementary class sizes, calendar changes and CTE grant

Bedford County School Board approved a calendar adjustment, a grant to help students in career and technical education classrooms and discussed elementary classroom sizes during a regular meeting Thursday evening.

Franklin County School Board is narrowing the search for a new superintendent

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Franklin County School Board says they’re narrowing their search for a new superintendent.


Chairman Jeff Worley says the county had 22 inquiries of which 17 diverse candidates applied for the position.

Millbrook High School's new FFA Alumni and Supporters Chapter sows seeds for future leaders

WINCHESTER — Millbrook High School recently chartered an FFA Alumni and Supporters Chapter. Sherando High School/Aylor Middle School and James Wood High School also have alumni and supporters groups. This means FFA youth in all of Frederick County’s nooks and crannies will find solid adult assistance throughout their youth and beyond.
