In Lynchburg, Youngkin signs swatting bill at site of multiple false calls

On Jan. 25, as Del. Wendell Walker (R-Lynchburg) stepped to the microphone on the floor of the House Chamber in Richmond to speak to House Bill 1572, Lynchburg's E.C. Glass High School was being held on a lockdown following a bomb threat made toward the school.

Alexandria school board appoints first Black woman superintendent

The Alexandria City School Board announced Thursday that interim superintendent Melanie Kay-Wyatt will remain in the role, making her the first Black woman to permanently hold the position. New tax prep program in Stafford high schools has successful first year

This tax season, Stafford County high school students volunteering as tax preparers obtained almost $100,000 in federal and state tax refunds for members of their community. ROCKY MOUNT - Following a three-month search, the Franklin County School Board on Friday named Kevin Siers as the school division's next superintendent. Siers has served as superintendent of Pulaski County Public Schools since 2016 and led Christiansburg High School as principal before that.
