LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA - Federal funds will bring 10 new electric school buses to Loudoun County. The Environmental Protection Agency administered the funds as part of the Diesel Emission Reduction Act School Bus Rebates. Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Mark Warner (D-VA) announced the funds on Tuesday.

The Gloucester School Board met Tuesday night in the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium for its regular monthly meeting, during which its members voted to delay tonight's previously scheduled budget work session to Thursday, March 24, since the board will review the budget with supervisors next Tuesday night at their joint meeting.

As Chesterfield County Public Schools prepare schedules for the upcoming year, school officials are encouraging elementary schools specifically to modify daily recess from a singular 30-minute period to two, either 15 or 20 minute blocks. Currently, 17 out of 40 Chesterfield elementary schools have multiple recess times for at least one or more grade levels.

Henrico County high-schoolers are transforming a 48,500-square-foot section of the Regency Square Mall into classrooms for the school division's adult education program. The Stafford County School Board is considering targeted redistricting to take effect next year as a "short-term" strategy for managing growth in the school division, and parents are not happy about it. After 41 years of service as an athletic director, Fauquier County native Jerry Carter is going into the Virginia High School Hall of Fame. Carter, 67, was the first AD for Liberty High when it opened in 1994 and spent 13 years there before moving to Briar Woods in Ashburn, where he spent another 14 years before retiring in 2021.

Bristol Virginia Superintendent of Schools Keith Perrigan has signaled for an end to mask mandates in city public schools as COVID cases in his system have been consistently between 0 and 3 in the past two weeks. Bristol had 28 cases citywide as of Wednesday and two schools reported zero students or staff in quarantine or isolation.
