$50M in state grants allowing funding shuffle so Danville Public Schools can jumpstart other construction projects

The funding comes from the School Construction Assistant Program and was awarded by the Virginia Board of Education.

New Riverbend High School principal announced

Xavier Downs will be the new principal of Spotsylvania County's Riverbend High School.Downs replaces longtime Riverbend principal Troy Wright, who had been employed in the division since 1992. Wright left Spotsylvania schools in May to become the deputy superintendent of King George County schools.

LCPS fills $16.3 million shortfall with county money

A $16.3 million hole in the Loudoun County Public Schools approximately $1.6 billion budget has been filled.School board members approved receiving the money from the Board of Supervisors which authorized the transfer in May. The county expects to have a $146 million surplus at the end of the fiscal year which concludes on June 30.

Join us for the 38th Annual VSBA Conference on Education, commencing with a keynote address by Ms. Fabiana Parker, the 2023 Virginia Teacher of the Year. Following Ms. Parker's presentation, we have VACORP assisting us in presenting the prestigious 2023 Excellence in Workforce Readiness Awards. Next, leaders from various school divisions across Virginia will convene to participate in a range of engaging mini-workshops. These workshops will showcase successful practices implemented in Virginia's school divisions, offering valuable insights and strategies for all attendees. After the roundtable presentations, participants will have the opportunity to partake in optional regional meeting. During the lunch break, we will announce the winners of the annual VSBA Food for Thought 2023 awards. Additionally, we are privileged to have recipients of the 2023 Student Essay Scholarship address the audience.
