For Virginia's Class of 2022, 92.1% of public high school students graduated, slightly down from the 93% figure for 2021 but higher than the Class of 2019's pre-pandemic graduation rate of 91.5%, according to state figures. In the Richmond region, Richmond Public Schools saw the largest decrease in its year-to-year graduation rates, down by roughly 4%.

On-time graduation among members of Fairfax County Public Schools' Class of 2022 declined slightly from a year before, but more graduates earned advanced degrees, according to new state data. Fairfax's Class of 2022 saw an on-time-graduation rate of 94.2 percent, down from 94.6 percent a year before, according to figures from the Virginia Department of Education.

RICHMOND, Va. -- The "Parents Matter Forum" in Richmond Sunday aimed to educate and empower parents about their rights when it comes to the Virginia Department of Education's policies. The Freeman High School community is in mourning, following the unexpected death of social studies teacher Lara Curry. Curry died Oct. 8. Principal John Marshall announced the news to the school community Monday morning, calling her death "devastating" for everyone, especially the students enrolled in her classes this fall.
