92.1% of Virginia's public high school Class of 2022 graduated

For Virginia's Class of 2022, 92.1% of public high school students graduated, slightly down from the 93% figure for 2021 but higher than the Class of 2019's pre-pandemic graduation rate of 91.5%, according to state figures. In the Richmond region, Richmond Public Schools saw the largest decrease in its year-to-year graduation rates, down by roughly 4%.

State: Fairfax on-time-graduation rate down slightly, but more earn advanced degrees

On-time graduation among members of Fairfax County Public Schools' Class of 2022 declined slightly from a year before, but more graduates earned advanced degrees, according to new state data. Fairfax's Class of 2022 saw an on-time-graduation rate of 94.2 percent, down from 94.6 percent a year before, according to figures from the Virginia Department of Education.

Freeman High School community mourning death of teacher - The Henrico Citizen

The Freeman High School community is in mourning, following the unexpected death of social studies teacher Lara Curry. Curry died Oct. 8. Principal John Marshall announced the news to the school community Monday morning, calling her death "devastating" for everyone, especially the students enrolled in her classes this fall.

Agriculture Day Returns To South River Elementary School

GROTTOES - After the world was turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, everything since has been working toward getting back to normal. Schools have worked especially hard to return students to a learning environment that resembles the one they experienced before the pandemic. For the most part, they've gotten there.

HCPS board approves student member

Henry County Public Schools (HCPS) will be getting its first student board member estimated as early as January. HCPS Director of Communications Monica Hatchett presented a model policy to the school board that outlined a potential plan for a student member, who would serve in an advisory capacity.

More than 90% of schools in Prince William, Manassas, Manassas Park fully accredited

With Gov. Glenn Youngkin's administration looking to tighten accreditation standards for the state's public schools, 98 of 107 schools in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park met full state accreditation requirements for the 2022-23 school year.

RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ) - As Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom is celebrating 30 years of connecting children to agriculture, more is being offered now than ever before.
