Join us for the 38th Annual VSBA Conference on Education, commencing with a keynote address by Ms. Fabiana Parker, the 2023 Virginia Teacher of the Year. Following Ms. Parker's presentation, we have VACORP assisting us in presenting the prestigious 2023 Excellence in Workforce Readiness Awards. Next, leaders from various school divisions across Virginia will convene to participate in a range of engaging mini-workshops. These workshops will showcase successful practices implemented in Virginia's school divisions, offering valuable insights and strategies for all attendees. After the roundtable presentations, participants will have the opportunity to partake in optional regional meeting. During the lunch break, we will announce the winners of the annual VSBA Food for Thought 2023 awards. Additionally, we are privileged to have recipients of the 2023 Student Essay Scholarship address the audience.

VB's Bevel named 2023 Outstanding Middle School Principal of Va.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Principal Shampriest Bevel of Virginia Beach's Bayside Middle School has been named the 2023 Outstanding Middle School Principal of Virginia. Bevel, whose been with Bayside Middle's sixth grade campus since 2021, was chosen by a panel of principals and superintendents representing the Principal Awards Committee of the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals (VASSP).

Virginia Lottery awards Williamsburg teacher with a $2,500 vacation

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Lottery's Thank a Teacher Campaign sent out thank-you notes to more than 68,000 teachers as part of their celebration of National Teacher Appreciation Week, and one lucky teacher in Williamsburg was awarded a cash prize.
