Virginia aims to close geographic disparities in covid vaccination rates among children

The coronavirus vaccination rate for eligible children is as high as 98 percent in certain areas of Virginia and as low as 17 percent in others - a disparity officials aim to end before children under 12 are able to get vaccinated, possibly as early as late October.

Williamsburg-James City County reports 197 confirmed COVID cases, nearly 350 students in quarantine

W-JCC - The Williamsburg-James City County school division reported a total of 197 confirmed COVID-19 cases among staff and students between July 1 and Sept. 27. As of Tuesday, the division has seen 24 faculty and staff members and 173 students test positive - 169 from on-site learning and four from remote learning.

Richmond pre-K, elementary schools will shift to hot lunches next week

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Richmond Public Schools is one step closer to getting hot meals into schools. In an RPS Direct update Monday night, Superintendent Jason Kamras said all elementary and preschools will shift to hot lunches starting Monday, October 4. All middle and high schools will do so later in the month.

After hiatus, Henrico Schools report more than 470 new COVID cases | The Henrico Citizen

After a 12-day hiatus, Henrico County Public Schools has posted updated information on COVID-19 cases involving schools including approximately 474 new cases since the last update. There have now been 579 cases among students and staff recorded since Sept. 1 - 286 at the elementary level, 125 in middle schools, 152 in high schools and program centers, and 16 in annexes.

UPDATE: School bus driver shortage in Pulaski County delays some afternoon routes for the rest of the week

UPDATE 12:34 p.m.: Pulaski County Public Schools says that not only will students from three schools be dropped off at least an hour late Tuesday afternoon, but students from two of those schools will arrive home at least an hour late for the rest of the week amid a bus driver shortage.
