Fairfax Co. schools update student COVID isolation policy | WTOP News

Virginia's largest school system has updated its isolation guidance for students who test positive for the coronavirus. In a message to families Wednesday, Fairfax County Public Schools said that starting May 1, students who test positive can return to in-person classes, activities and sporting events after at least five days of isolation.

Youngkin announces $631K grant to enhance school safety in Va.

RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) - Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) has been awarded $631,262 to help with crisis management in schools. Youngkin says the funds will be used to start a crisis management enhancement project to increase communication and coordination between school officials and law enforcement.

Lynchburg City Council holds public hearing on expiring school board seats

Lynchburg City Council hosted a public hearing Tuesday night to listen to applicant resumes and community feedback regarding three expiring seats on the Lynchburg City School Board. The seats of District 1 representative Susan Morrison, District 2 representative Gary Harvey, and District 3 representative Michael Nilles will expire June 30.

School board passes FY 2023 budget with compensation wish list intact

After months of angst, recalculating and reworking, the Fauquier County School Board passed a FY 2023 budget on Monday. School board members were gratified with the result, especially because a series of adjustments enabled average 13% raises for all teachers, a key goal of school officials this year.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. - The search for a new school superintendent continues in Montgomery County. School board members discussed their progress during a meeting Tuesday night. The district sent out a request for proposals for a search firm to help find the district's new superintendent.
