Following threat, nearly half of students at Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School stay home | Rumors of potential violence at Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School in Frederick County led to nearly half of the facility's approximately 1,006 students staying home on Tuesday. School enrollment on the rise for first time since 2007 | Enrollment in Halifax County Public Schools is up this school year. On Aug. 29, 4,655 students headed to school for the start of a new year.
