Charlottesville City Schools is ending its virtual learning program, directing families wishing to stay online to the state's virtual learning platform, Virtual Virginia.

'Caroline Cruiser' hitting the streets to collect school supply donations

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) - Caroline County Public Schools will be implementing a unique method of gathering donations for local schools this summer. The "Caroline Cruiser," a bright blue bus decorated with various Caroline landmarks, will be driving around the county collecting donations for supplies that will go to the schools in the district.

Central Va. schools implement enhanced safety measures following Texas shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Several school systems in Central Virginia have implemented safety measures on Wednesday and through the end of the school year after Tuesday's deadly shooting in Texas. Richmond Public Schools implemented enhanced searches during student arrival on Wednesday. In an update to parents, Superintendent Jason Kamras said arrival procedures would take longer than usual.

Henrico County schools giving away free meals for Memorial Day weekend

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) - Henrico Public Schools is giving away 350 meals for Memorial Day weekend. The meals will be available for pickup Wednesday, May 25 at Hermitage High School from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. School staff will distribute the meals on a first-come-first-served basis.

Norfolk Public Schools now welcoming back volunteers

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk Public Schools is once again opening its doors to volunteers. NPS' Office of Community Engagement has recently implemented new changes to the division's volunteer system that streamlines the application approval process. Former volunteers and those interested in partnering with NPS will now be able to use the new Raptor Online Visitor Management System to register.
