South River Elementary gives donations to RHSPCA | GROTTOES, Va. (WHSV) - On Wednesday students at South River Elementary School in Grottoes got a visit from the Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA before their winter break. Students had been bringing in donations for the RHSPCA for the last month. On Wednesday the school welcomed a volunteer from the shelter to collect all the donations and talk with students about the SPCA's work. | | |
Man arrested for stealing school bus | PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A man was arrested Wednesday morning, accused of stealing a school bus. Matthew Heuple, 34 of Hurt, is charged with one count of grand larceny and one count of driving a motor vehicle after forfeiture of his license. He is in the Pittsylvania County jail. | | |
Schools will allow county to use facilities | INDEPENDENCE - The Grayson County School Board has approved an agreement between the school system and the Grayson County Board of Supervisors, offering use of facilities in exchange for financial assistance to complete the construction, renovation and rehabilitation of the Grayson County High School and related facilities. | | |
Keller is city school system's 2023 Teacher of the Year | WINCHESTER - Handley High School's Jeff Keller has been named the 2023 Teacher of the Year for Winchester Public Schools. Security sensors approved for Osbourn High School in Manassas | High-tech security sensors are coming to Osbourn High School in Manassas. 2023 VSBA Capital Conference, January 30-31, 2023
This year’s two-day Capital Conference will kick off with a budget and economic outlook for 2023 with the latest update on the Commonwealth’s financial picture. After the budget presentation there will be a conversation between Former Virginia House of Delegate Chris Saxman and Dr. Bob Holsworth with their perspectives on the landscape of Virginia politics in 2023 and beyond. Following this session, attendees will hear from VSBA’s own, J.T. Kessler and Stacy Haney on the happenings at the Capitol for the 2023 Virginia General Assembly.
