RPS, Henrico welcome students back to school

Both districts are beginning their second consecutive school year of in-person learning after being predominantly virtual in the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. $84M bid jeopardizes new Northampton school plan - Eastern Shore Post

By Stefanie Jackson - A low bid of $84 million - nearly $20 million over budget - is putting the Northampton middle and high school improvement project in jeopardy. "The Northampton County Board of Supervisors were very disappointed that the bids for the middle/high school project were so much over the estimated cost," Northampton County Administrator Charlie Kolakowski said Wednesday.

Agriculture in the classroom helps local teachers - The Tidewater News

VDOE issues Superintendent memo on educator misconduct reporting requirements

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) released a memo on educator misconduct reporting requirements in response to two major cases involving the alleged sexual misconduct of public school employees. The memo, penned by Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jillian Balow, cites "two recent highly publicized cases involving alleged misconduct by public school employees," as the impetus for the announcement.

Four takeaways from Virginia's post-pandemic standardized test results - Virginia Mercury

Education officials in Virginia have made addressing the student achievement gap a top priority in Virginia after standardized test results showed statewide declines. Virginia's pass rates, which are calculated from the Standards of Learning and Virginia Alternate Assessment Program tests, showed that all students performed better in 2021-22, when districts had returned to in-person learning, compared to the prior year.
