Arrests, incidents up in 2nd half of Alexandria's school year - WTOP News | Alexandria City Public Schools have released their latest round of safety data, which covers the third and fourth quarters of last school year. That data, which will be presented to the school board on Thursday, shows that there were 194 reported incidents, up slightly from 191 in the first and second quarters. | | |

Richmond School Board backs commission on status of Latino students | The Richmond School Board unanimously adopted a proposal Monday night to create a community-wide Commission on the Status of Latino students in Richmond Public Schools. The Board voted to accept the proposal as presented by the Richmond Region League of United Latin American Citizens to form the commission, with additional flexibility to add more members as appropriate, including teachers, school board members and community advocates. | | |
Emporia-Greensville teen collects pencils for teachers | Blair Dickens is the 16-year-old daughter of Doug and Tina Dickens. She is a junior at the Governor's School of Southside Virginia and Greensville County High School. Dickens is active in many activities including dance, tennis, and is a published author.
