Join us January 18, 2024 from 12pm-1pm for How Arlington County is Addressing an Increase in Students Needing Intensive Reading Support. In this webinar, Arlington County will elaborate on how to address a common issue for school divisions: secondary students needing intensive reading support. Participants will learn about the importance of an effective assessment system and the necessary steps a school division can take to accelerate student progress to proficiency in literacy. This session will address the steps to shift instructional practice towards the science of reading and structured literacy as required by the Virginia Literacy Act. Participants will learn division-wide action steps needed to make systemic changes in the following categories: leadership, professional learning, curriculum and instruction, student experience, and community engagement.
