One evening during the height of the pandemic, when schools were closed, Fredericksburg City Public Schools superintendent Marci Catlett was sitting at home when a school bus pulled up in her street. Even for a school division with high Standards of Learning pass rates, officials in Botetourt County and educators elsewhere in Southwest Virginia are giving low marks to standardized tests that weigh heavily for public education. HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -Nuckols Farm Elementary School has been Henrico County Schools history. The Short Pump school was named a 2022 Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education on Friday. It's the second time in school history that Nuckols Farm has earned that honor making it the only two-time winner in Henrico history.

NORFOLK - Norfolk residents can provide input on the futures of Booker T. Washington High School and Maury High School this fall. The Norfolk School Board received information on four possible plans to either renovate or demolish and rebuild Maury High School, which is more than a century old, in August.
