Alexandria City High School Continues Virtual Learning for Many After Student's Slaying

Alexandria City High School opened its doors Tuesday for the first time since a student was killed in a chaotic fight off-campus. However, most students will learn virtually for the rest of the week. Two new members to be appointed to Martinsville School Board

City Council will be appointing two new members to the Martinsville School Board as one term expires and another member resigns. At a regular meeting on Tuesday, Council set a public hearing for June 14 to receive names of citizens interested in appointments for a three-year term ending June 30, 2025 and an unexpired three-year term ending June 30, 2024, after Jay Dickens resigned on April 20.

BVPS: Date set for groundbreaking of new school

Schools in Central Virginia and across the state are set to get a big chunk of money from the two-year state budget, which the Virginia General Assembly approved Wednesday. Potomac Falls HS Student Charged in Bomb Threat, Security Increased: Sheriff

A teenager is in custody after a Loudoun County, Virginia, high school was evacuated Wednesday due to a bomb threat, officials say. A student at Potomac Falls High School has been charged with three counts of threat to bomb, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

Cause of Chesterfield school lockdown disclosed

A 35-minute lockdown earlier this week at Grange Hall Elementary School was caused by a Chesterfield County student grabbing ahold of a staff walkie-talkie to say "he has a gun." An investigation from school administrators and Chesterfield officers concluded that the student "made the statement as a joke," said county police spokeswoman Liz Caroon.
