Botetourt County librarian is regional teacher of the year

A Botetourt County librarian is one of eight Virginia teachers who learned Tuesday of their selections as 2023 Virginia Regional Teachers of the Year. There were surprise classroom visits, assemblies and announcements at their schools. The eight are now in the running for selection next month as the commonwealth's 2023 Virginia Teacher of Year, according to state Department of Education news release.

Teacher shortages: How does Staunton, Augusta, Waynesboro compare?

Long-term substitutes and new recruits are filling the empty spots at area schools this year. Now several weeks into the school year, Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro schools have filled open spots with both. Grayson County Schools' teacher receives Region 7 Teacher of the Year

GRAYSON COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Dawn Poe, a kindergarten teacher at Fairview Elementary School, is making history in Grayson County. "She's the best teacher," kindergartener Harlee Rutherford said. State high court denies Loudoun School Board request to file appeal under seal

Virginia's Supreme Court has rejected the Loudoun County School Board's request to file its appeal under seal, as the school system seeks to overturn a ruling that let a special grand jury investigation continue. Two weeks ago, WTOP reported the board filed an appeal to Virginia's highest court, asking it to reverse a Loudoun County Circuit Court judge's decision.
