'100 years in the making': Committee planning Handley High School's centennial celebration

WINCHESTER - Handley High School is about to turn 100 and a contingent of Winchester's leading citizens wants to make sure the celebration is one for the ages. Harry Smith, chairman of the Handley 100th Steering Committee, said the group's goal is to stage "the biggest darn party Winchester has seen for a hundred years, and they'll remember it for a hundred years."

Henrico County Public School's (HCPS) superintendent is recommending the school board accept two batches of funding from the state that could benefit Henrico schools and teachers. Implementation of Youngkin's transgender policies delayed at least 30 days

The effective date of the Youngkin administration's proposed policies regarding the treatment of transgender students will be delayed by at least another 30 days. The Virginia Department of Education last month published new model policies that roll back some of the protections that were afforded to transgender students under policies published last year by then-Gov.

Two staff members hurt, one charged after hit and run at Christiansburg High School parking lot

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - A 45-year-old is facing charges after a hit and run outside of Christiansburg High School that left two staff members injured, according to school officials. Authorities say the incident happened in the parking lot on Tuesday (Oct.25) after a physical confrontation between juveniles.
