Youngkin's push to increase school resource officers showing results

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Governor Glenn Youngkin's push to increase school resource officers is starting to show results but some advocates argue the state should spend its money elsewhere. Earlier this summer, the General Assembly approved an additional $45 million over two fiscal years to pay for new school resource officers and school security officers.

Meet Dashan Turner, North Stafford High School's new principal

North Stafford High School, affectionately known as North Nation, started the school year with a new principal after saying goodbye to Daniel Hornick, who led the Wolverines for the past five years. Dashan Turner was officially announced and welcomed as the new principal for North Stafford at a Stafford County School Board meeting in mid-July.

By Randy Arrington LURAY, Aug. 25 - School board members and administrators touted a successful first week for Page County Public Schools during last Thursday's board meeting, including improvements to school safety. Through two grants secured by the Page County Sheriff's Office, two additional School Resource Officers (SROs) will now be funded, filling vacancies at both Shenandoah and Luray Elementary.

For the second year in a row, a teacher at Appomattox County High School has won the distinguished Region 8 Teacher of the Year award. This afternoon, Ms. Megan Graves, a special education teacher, was presented the award with her students and parents present in the school's auditorium lobby.

Northampton public schools update emergency crisis plans - Eastern Shore Post

By Stefanie Jackson - Northampton's public schools have updated their crisis plan to be more accessible and easier to use by teachers and staff preparing for or responding to any emergency, from severe weather to a bomb threat. The Northampton County Sheriff's Office collaborated with the school division to simplify and improve the document.

Five new Richmond Public Schools principals on Thursday morning shared how and why they "lead with love." Very few educators can say they have worked with the breadth of students that Tola Ogundipe has in her two decades of teaching. Ogundipe began working with preschoolers in New Jersey. She worked at East Rockingham High School with high school chemistry students. She worked with elementary school students with disabilities at Stone Spring Elementary School.
