School board approves changes to public comment policy at board meetings

The Loudoun County School Board updated its policy on public comment at board meetings on Tuesday, correcting modifications implemented at the end of September that resulted in the exclusion of certain constituents from participating in the public comment portion of meetings.

Hampton schools will mandate COVID-19 vaccine or testing for employees - pending court decision

HAMPTON - Hampton City Schools will implement a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine and testing requirements for employees - if federal courts deem the policy constitutional. The city School Board voted unanimously Wednesday night in favor of the policy, which would require unvaccinated employees to be tested weekly.Staff members can seek exemptions for medical or religious reasons, but those who receive exemptions would have to undergo weekly testing.

CCPS names new deputy superintendent | Chesterfield Observer

Joseph Tylus has been named deputy superintendent for Chesterfield County Public Schools, effective Wednesday, Dec. 1. He will assume the role following the departure of current Deputy Superintendent Thomas Taylor, who has been named superintendent of Stafford County Public Schools. Tylus currently serves as CCPS executive director of constituent services and student leadership.

Student plant sales offer holiday favorites | The Henrico Citizen

The horticulture programs at the ACE Center at Virginia Randolph and the ACE Center at Hermitage will hold sales of student-grown plants in December. The ACE Center at Virginia Randolph Holiday Plant Sale will take place Dec. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the school, 2204 Mountain Road in Glen Allen.

Judge allows sex-discrimination lawsuit to proceed against Roanoke County School Board

However, Cullen ruled that enough questions remained for a jury to decide whether those factors were simply a pretext for sexual discrimination. The judge also found that Barnett's and Burcham's jobs, which required both to work in the school's administrative office, and their backgrounds were similar enough to make a valid comparison.

A legislative commission is proposing more than a half-dozen ways to help Virginia's school divisions replace or renovate outdated public school buildings, including a new fund that would be dedicated to providing grants to localities for school modernization improvements they otherwise couldn't afford.

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - Many school systems are suffering from bus driver shortages, but one local system is providing a gateway for a solution. Bedford County Public Schools will host three free CDL test prep classes this month. The information covered in the classes is what drivers would be tested on.

School renovation approved - Farmville

A unanimous vote by the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors approved the renovations of Prince Edward County Elementary School. During the public participation portion of the Nov. 9 meeting, numerous citizens voiced their concerns and wants for something to be done about the elementary school.
