Number of Franklin County students with mask exemptions shrinks following documentation requirement

According to Franklin County Public Schools Superintendent Bernice Cobbs, approximately 240 students and 50 staff members have now received religious and health exemptions for the division's universal masking policy. She noted that the majority of the exemptions were for religious reasons.

Walk-in service at Virginia's DMV offices restarts Tuesday

Good news, Virginians. You can now wait in line at the Department of Motor Vehicles without scheduling an appointment beforehand. All 75 DMV offices across the state will reopen Tuesday for walk-in service, which will be available each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Appointment-only service will be offered each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

More Petitions to Remove School Board Members Eligible for Court Filing - Loudoun Now

The group Fight for Schools now has the signatures needed to file removal petitions against School Board members Denise Corbo (At-Large) and Ian Serotkin (Blue Ridge) in circuit court. The petition for Corbo has 101% (10,902) of the signatures needed, while the petition for Serotkin has 125% (2,727).

Suffolk schools to investigate whether teacher asked student who died to walk sick children to nurse

SUFFOLK - School administrators are investigating whether a teacher had tasked a fifth-grader who died of coronavirus complications last week to walk sick students to the nurse. Anthonette Ward, a Suffolk Public Schools spokeswoman, said the student's school has a rule for how to handle children with COVID-19 symptoms, and only adults are supposed to accompany them.

Richmond School Board votes to modify School Resource Officer program

After rejecting a motion to remove School Resource Officers (SROs) from Richmond Public Schools (RPS), School Board members provided feedback on a proposal to modify the program.
