Grown Here at Home: Farm to School Month activities planned for Roanoke City students

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - With October being National Farm to School Month, kids in Roanoke will learn how their food is grown, meet local farmers, and taste food grown right here at home. In July of 2020, LEAP, Virginia Cooperative Extension, Roanoke City Public Schools and food service vendor SodexoMagic received a USDA Farm to School Planning Grant.

COVID-19 outbreak pauses in-person instruction temporarily at Prince William County school

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WDVM) - In-person instruction has been paused at Bennett Elementary School in Prince William County due to a COVID-19 outbreak. The school will revert back to virtual learning from Oct. 12-15, as a result of 36 positive COVID-19 cases and more than 200 close contacts in quarantine.

Falls Church City Public Schools in Virginia is alerting parents that some school bus routes could be delayed because of double runs starting Tuesday. The problem is driver shortages. The announcement comes as many school districts in the D.C. region are experiencing similar issues.

BUENA VISTA, Va. (WFXR) - Buena Vista City Public Schools will be closing schools on Friday because of COVID. School officials say that due to the challenges, Oct. 15 will be a teacher workday. The schools will be closed in order to let staff clean, plan, and prepare for instruction.

Fairfax County Public Schools: FCPS Students Earn International Baccalaureate Diploma And Career-Related Certificates

October 11, 2021 Four-hundred-eight FCPS students earned the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and 58 students earned the IB Career-related Certificate during the 2020-21 school year. The IB Diploma Program (IB DP) is a two-year program for juniors and seniors that comprises the DP core curriculum and six subject groups.
