Two Richmond schools to implement 200-day school years

Two Richmond schools will add 20 days to their academic calendars next school year in an effort to curb learning loss that was exasperated by school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a split vote, the Richmond City School Board on Monday approved the extended school year for Cardinal Elementary, a school in South Richmond, which was formerly named E.S.H.

Spots Still Open in Academic 'Pandemic Recovery' Program ENGAGE Virginia | Williamsburg Yorktown Daily

RICHMOND - There are still some spots remaining in a new academic program that aims to support Virginia public school students after the impact of COVID-19 on education, although a majority have been filled. Trustee Glenn Edwards read a letter from an unnamed citizen who'd recently visited Mecklenburg County High School and shared what they witnessed.

CVCC gets approved for Lab School Planning Grant

The Virginia Department of Education approved Central Virginia Community College's application for a College Partnership Laboratory School Planning grant. VDOE announced its approval of the grant in the amount of $200,000 to CVCC earlier this month, the college said in a release.

Staunton City Schools not affiliated with return of Weekday Religious Education program

STAUNTON - It appears Weekday Religious Education will be returning to Staunton, although not in the form that its supporters had wanted. A post on the "Staunton WRE After-school Program" Facebook page announced a meet and greet Tuesday night, March 21, at St. Paul's Church on Shutterlee Mill Road for those interested in the program.
