Join school division leaders from across Virginia at the 37th annual VSBA Conference on Education. Attendees will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of mini-workshops which highlight successful practices in Virginia’s school divisions. Participants will leave with many great insights and practical ideas. After the roundtable presentations, attendees will break into regional meetings to discuss pertinent issues coming up for their particular regions.

Proposed RCPS Name Change Policy Gets Mixed Reviews | It was a packed house at the Rockingham County Administration Center on Monday for the School Board's meeting, with close to 100 people present. Nearly 20 people spoke during public comment and were mostly split in their support of a policy proposed by board member Matt Cross. | | |
Galax schools get electric buses | Galax City Public Schools can look forward to joining a trend that's likely to become the norm in a few years: electric school buses. Director of Operations Jeff Sharpe said that two new electric school buses, plus a charging station for each, are slated to come in November. | | |
Meadville Elementary School kindergarten instructor takes top accolade for division | A teacher who is "a blessing to the students, parents and fellow teachers at Meadville." Those are the words a colleague used to describe Melinda Hupp in a nomination of Hupp as Teacher of the Year. WBL program helping CCHS students learn about careers | BERRYVILLE - Clarke County has a lot of young people interested in pursuing medical jobs. Shaine Coleman, work-based learning and transition coordinator at Clarke County High School, surveyed students to find out their career ambitions. School divisions dealing with high gas prices | HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - Everyone is taking a hit from the high gas prices, including school districts trying to keep their school buses filled up. Even though some school systems, like Henrico County Public Schools, don't get fuel for their buses through regular gas stations like Sheetz or Wawa, they still feel the impacts of high gas prices. | | |
Rockingham County Schools implement Structured Literacy program ahead of Virginia Literacy Act | ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) - The Virginia Literacy Act was unanimously passed by the 2022 General Assembly. The act makes changes to early student learning by establishing evidence-based literacy instruction and science-based reading research. Rockingham County Schools started using this "structured literacy" teaching in 2021. | | | |
