Amherst schools employees, deputy honored for response to fentanyl incident

Two Amherst County Public Schools employees and an Amherst County Sheriff's officer were publicly honored Feb. 8 for their actions that helped seven Central Elementary School students accidentally exposed to fentanyl in December.

St. Clare Walker Middle School honored John Henry St. Clare Walker by celebrating his 140th birthday on Monday, Jan. 22. During a special school-wide assembly, students and staff were reminded of St. Clare Walker’s legacy as a pioneer educator who dedicated his life to bringing education to Black citizens of Middlesex County.
